Information Systems Engineer - Huntsville, Alabama
IT Professional Services/Project Support focused government contractor seeks a candidate for an Information Systems Engineer position with NASA in Huntsville, AL.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures technical compliance through a disciplined Systems Engineering (SE) approach for the Project office. Works closely with senior technical leaders across project offices and support organizations. This position is expected to be a proactive systems advocate (system troubleshooter and problem solver) while managing stakeholder expectations and demonstrating good organizational judgment.
- Performs system analysis, trades, and requirements decomposition
- Understands and applies system engineering and information systems expertise to perform and document: Requirements definition, Requirements analysis, Requirements management in a requirements database, Software requirements definition, Technical documentation development, System, Data and Process mapping, System architecture design and Database development
- Develops innovative solutions to unique problems
- Sets up feedback mechanism and processes to actively involve the client and team members in the SE process
- Provides guidance, coaching, direction, and support of the SE discipline
- Prepares and presents strategies during client meetings
- Maintains information organization, enabling the client to easily locate data and information
- Assists in creating policy and procedures associated with information systems and configuration management and ensures established policies are applied
- For configuration reviews, helps prepare presentation materials, solicits feedback from attendees, and ensures approved actions are completed
- Participates in the coordination and administration of assigned configuration management activities
- Provides services to operations personnel related to SE management and processes
- Develops effective working relationships with program personnel
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Skilled in requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, traceability, integration, test, verification and life-cycle engineering
- 5+ years of SE experience with an Aerospace/Defense contractor, DoD. Space System, or IT client (NASA experience a plus)
- Extensive experience in information systems SE knowledge and experience in applying SE processes for technical program management and product development
- Technical degree required. Advance degree preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- U.S. Citizen
- Proficiency in the use of SE specific engineering tools (DOORS, SLATE, and CRADLE)
- Ability to work comfortably in a multi-vendor, high-energy environment
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple assignments concurrently
- Excellent communications (both written and oral), and interpersonal skills
- Positive customer service attitude
- Well rounded understanding of technology, operations, and business processes
