November 19, 2009, Cape Canaveral, FL -- Freedom Information Systems' Senior Engineer and Analyst at NASA Headquarters, Jim Lynch, has received a Spaceflight Awareness Award.

One of NASAs highest awards, the Spaceflight Awareness Award is reserved for individuals who contribute beyond their normal work requirements to achieve significant impact on attaining a particular human space flight program goal.

Lynch was selected as an honoree because of his primary role in developing the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) Mishap Response Contingency Action Plan (MRCAP) and Security Response Contingency Action Plan (SecurCAP). The two plans change the model of how NASA responds to accidents and security incidents.

"Mr. Lynch has clearly developed a capability that is above and beyond his normal stated responsibilities," said Tony Gallina, ESMD Information Systems Program Executive, "He has become the sole expert on CAPs during this process, and is clearly the 'go-to' resource in ESMD on how to develop a CAP."

Lynch is the fourth Freedom employee to receive a 'i>Spaceflight Awareness Award. "I am humbled by this honor," he said upon notification. Freedoms President, Mark Ogles was pleased to learn of the special award. "Jim's incredible attention to detail and his proactive technical processes have made him an invaluable asset to Freedom and to NASA. We are grateful to have him on our team, and ecstatic about a fourth Spaceflight Awareness Award in just two years!"
